Tomato Ketchup
TEST PRINCIPLE
To conduct a comparative study on how three different ketchup brands measure against each other’s viscosity using the LV and RV spring viscometers.


BACKGROUND
The word “ketchup” is derived from the Malay word “ketserup,” which means sauce. Tomato ketchup, also known as red ketchup, is a staple condiment in Western cuisine. It is made with tomatoes and other ingredients such as vinegar, sugar, salt, onion, garlic, and spices. This tangy and sweet sauce goes well with burgers, sandwiches, and other snacks 

The amount of force required to break the needles is then measured. The needle patch is placed on the Fixture Base Table (TA-BT-KIT) (Fig. 2). As the probe slowly lowers onto the sample, it will compress the patch and break the microneedles. In this way, we will obtain the mechanical strength data of the microneedles in the microneedle transdermal patch
 

METHOD

Test equipment:

• Instrument: Viscometer or Rheometer
• Spring Torque Range: LV
• Spindle: LV-4 (64)
• Speed: 5, 10, 15, and 20 RPM

Test method:

We used the AMETEK Brookfield DVNext LV Viscometer (Fig. 3) with RheocalcT software for automated instrument control and data acquisition.
A 500 ml sample was poured into a tall form beaker and allowed to stabilize for about 30 minutes at room temperature (25°C ± 1°C).
We had set the above parameters using RheocalcT software, and the viscosity of all three samples was measured simultaneously.

OBSERVATIONS
The viscosity values of the three samples are as follows:

• Spindle: RV-4 (4) • Speed: 10, 20, 30, and 40 RPM

Test method:

We used the AMETEK Brookfield DV2T RV Touch Screen Viscometer (Fig. 6) with RheocalcT software for automated instrument control and data acquisition in this experiment. • A 500 ml sample was poured into a tall form beaker and allowed to stabilize for about 30 minutes at room temperature (25°C ± 1°C). • We had set the above parameters using RheocalcT software, and the viscosity of all three samples was measured simultaneously.
